JoAnn (Grant) Clingan, age 77, of Filbert, PA was called to be with God and her loving husband on Saturday, September 21, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on November 30, 1941 in Redstone Twp., PA

Daughter of the late John J. and Helen T. (Kocis) Grant

JoAnn was a loving, caring night owl with a spit-fire attitude and always spoke her mind. Though sassy and sometimes a challenge to handle, she always had her door open to family and friends with her big heart.

She attended Redstone High School and was a woman who wore many hats during her life. She was a sewing factory worker, one of the first few female coal miners, nurses aid and housekeeper and an employee of Redstone Candy. When she wasn't working, she was busy spending time with her family whom she loved very much and always helping out with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband: Gerald "Bear" Clingan

Granddaughter: Amanda Costello

Brothers: Gary, John, Eddie, Kenny, and Bernie Grant

Sister-in-law: Marie Grant

JoAnn is survived by her daughters:

Kim Shinkle and Gerri Carbonella

Grandchildren: Elisha Laufle and husband Robert; Mike Carbonella, Lexi Carbonella, Jessica Spike and fiance Mike King; Anthony Shinkle, and Katie Shinkle

Great-grandchildren: Destini Klippi, Austin Laufle, Benjamin Costello, Andrew Laufle, Gracie Spike, and Bentley Carbonella

Brother: Richard Grant and wife Glenda

Sisters: Debbie Holloman and husband Ron

Kathy Rosneck and husband Stephen

Sisters-in-law: Vivian Ziots, Peggy Grant, and Loretta Grant

Also survived by loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins

The family would like to thank Laurel Ridge Nursing Center and their wonderful staff as well as all the family and friends for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.

Private Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of The Dearth Funeral Home 35 South Mill Street New Salem, PA.

Interment will take place in Salem View Cemetery.
