Wallace Christopher Diethorn, of Gaithersburg, MD, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 33 on Sunday, October 8, 2023.
He was a police Lieutenant for WAMTA in the Washington, DC area. Wally graduated from Plum Borough High School and IUP with a BA in Criminology.
Wally was a beloved father, son, uncle, grandson, brother, nephew and friend. He is survived by the light of his life, his daughter: Ryla Byrdena Diethorn and her mother: Rosetta Sontia; his parents: David and Reta (Brant) Diethorn; as well as his devastated sisters: Dena Lang (Clinton) and Mara Diethorn (John Flores III); his maternal grandmother: Byrdena Brant; adoring nephews: Hunter Lang, Bryden Lang and Braden Flores; aunts: Karen Currence (David), Nora Brant and Lois Carpeal (Kenneth Sr); his Godfather: Mark Farrell (Ann); and numerous cousins.
Wally was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Wallace A. Brant; paternal grandparents: Will and Lorraine (Lawrence) Diethorn; and infant cousins: Arthur and Hanna Lent.
Wally was an intelligent and caring person. He enjoyed the ocean, trivia, hunting, fishing and reading, especially sci-fi. Wally was immensely proud to serve his community which began as an Eagle Scout. His passing has left a hole in the hearts of all who loved him.
Family and friends will be received at The Dearth Funeral Home, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, PA 15468 on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 12 Noon until the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow in Laurel Hill Church Cemetery. www.dearthfh.com.
